.....Brazil                     Grande Sertao Veredas National Park

Why is Grande Sertao Veredas N.P. important to cat conservation?

Grande Sertao Veredas N.P. (GSVNP) is in the Brazilian cerrado, an
ecosystem rich in carnivores.  We believe GSV has the Brazilian Pampas cat
along with Jaguar, Puma, Ocelot, Margay,  Jaguarundi, and perhaps Tigrina.
In May 2004 the federal government of Brazil expanded the park from
84,000 ha to more than 230,000 ha making it the largest park in the cerrado.
There is no question GSVNP is important to conservation.  Does it have the
Pampas cat? Camera traps will tell us.
